PROS Refrigeration Conversion
PROS Converts Vented Machines to Closed-Loop
Overview.
The Refrigerator is a unique after market kit that is easily added to any vented dry-to-dry cleaning machine bringing it up to today’s standards of perc recovery for only a fraction of the price of a new machine.

The Refrigerator is a water cooled refrigeration condensing unit designed specifically to refrigerate the air in the recovery housing. This enables the operator to remove the vents from the machine and effectively run the machine as a no vent system. The Refrigerator is custom made to fit each drycleaning machine by replacing the water cooled recovery coil the a new refrigerated recovery coil.
The effect of the Refrigerator is to lower the air stream temperature down to 45°F (7.2°C). This the lowest temperature that perc effectively condenses to a liquid. It is at this point that the drycleaning machine is recovering as much perc as possible.
Typical Operating Day.
Because of the efficiency of the new refrigerated evaporator coil, the Refrigerator eliminates the aeration or deodorization cycles to purge the perc vapors from the machine. All the perc is recovered during the dry and cool down cycles without having to extend these cycles in most cases.
Once installed there is no maintenance and does not change the normal operation of the machine. The Refrigerator allows the operator to extend the dry and cool down in more time is needed based on the type of garments being cleaned. A temperature probe monitors the air stream to ensure proper operation.
Components.
The Refrigerator consists of three parts. A water cooled Condensing Unit, a wall mounted Control Box and a refrigerated evaporator coil. The condensing unit is usually placed on the floor near the control box. The control box is 18" wide x 6" deep x 34" high and the condensing unit is 25" wide x 21" deep x 25" high.
Installation.
The Refrigerator require 230 volt, 3 phase power in various amperages depending on the model. Typical installations in complete in 6-8 hours. The control circuit of the dry cleaning machine is integrated with the Refigerator cicuit. This allows the cleaning machine to control the flow of refrigerant to the recovery coil and the recovery process. This procedure requires connecting seven wires from the drycleaning machine control box to the Refrigerator control box. Schematics and complete description of installation is provided with the installation manual.
The new evaporator coil is installed into the recovery housing in place of the old water coil. In most cases the evaporator coil come assembled with a new coverplate and gasket and is precharged with R-22 refrigerant.
As a safety precaution the Refrigerator includes a freeze safety thermostat and probe to monitor the air stream to prevent the steam coil from freezing.
